Are you interested in buying a ukulele? There are a ton of great options out there ranging from very reasonable to outrageous. I recommend getting started with an inexpensive uke but not one that is made to be a toy. Diamond Head ukuleles are ones that I have found to be great for beginners. They come in a wide range of colors to fit your personality and they are nearly indestructible, making them a good choice for a family with small children. Believe me you kids will want to play the uke, play with the uke, put things in the uke etc.
Tuning is a tricky business. It’s so important to get the tuning right but if you aren’t familiar with music and music theory it can be difficult. We have found a free app that will help you tune your ukulele to the open C tuning that we use with our Uke in a Day method. Open C tuning is not the typical tuning of a ukulele, so if you have another tuner and just follow the ukulele tuning it will not sound right with the Uke in a Day method of barring the chords. The tuner we recommend you get is insTuner.
We have recorded a couple videos to help you with tuning your ukulele using the tuning app above.
